Anritsu Bluetooth MT8852B tester

Anritsu MT8852B tester covers the Bluetooth 5 specifications

Anritsu announces the update of the Bluetooth MT8852B tester making it compatible with the latest specification “Bluetooth Core Specification” version 5. The MT8852B supports the Basic Rate (BR), Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for transmit power, frequency, modulation and receiver sensitivity required for RF testing of Bluetooth specifications.

In December 2016, the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) committee published the Bluetooth specification 5, allowing for longer range communication at higher speeds, while maintaining a low demand for applications on smartphones and connected objects. These specifications require appropriate measuring solutions.

With the new options, the MT8852B tester provides, according to Anristu, all the RF tests of the PHY layer required by the new Bluetooth specification 5 for the design and manufacture of Bluetooth modules and chipsets, especially tests for Bluetooth Low Energy PHY at 2 Mb/s (2LE), which significantly improves battery life, as well as the Bluetooth Long Range (BLR) that extends the range of communications to several hundred meters.

The MT8852B, which supported previous Bluetooth Low Energy specifications, offers new measurement options for the 2LE and BLR specifications. New tests can be included in measurement scripts to simplify the creation of test scenarios and reduce testing phase time.

The MT8852B supports 2LE and BLR measurements via a direct connection and can be used to control the device under test (DUT) via USB, the 2-wire RS232 HCI interface in Direct Test Mode (DTM), or via USB- Series.
