Exfo closes acquisition of the French company Yenista Optics

 
Canadian Exfo, a specialist in optical network testing, monitoring and analysis solutions, has completed the acquisition of the French company Yenista Optics SAS for a cash consideration of US $ 11.1 million (approximately 9.45 million euros).
 
Yenista Optics, a private company based in Lannion (Côtes-d’Armor), provides optical testing equipment for the R & D and production markets. Its portfolio of products includes optical spectrum analyzers (photo), tunable lasers, tunable filters and passive optical component testing systems for network equipment manufacturers and optical component suppliers. The company was profitable in 2016, generating growing revenues of US $ 5.8 million (approximately 5 million euros).

According to Exfo, Yenista Optics’ product offering extends Exfo’s market for optical testing of more than $ 100 million (approximately € 85 million). The French company’s offer will be integrated into Exfo’s physical layer test product family.

On the basis of internal figures, and according to Germain Lamonde, Executive Chairman of Exfo, revenue from Yenista’s business allows Exfo to position itself as the world leader in fiber optic test equipment.

Yenista Optics designs and manufactures fiber optic test equipment for applications in the R & D and production sectors. Founded in 2003, the company has more than 20 patents protecting its proprietary technologies on measurement techniques, optical filters and external cavity lasers.
