- National Instruments (NI) announced the NI-RFmx NB-IoT/eMTC measurement software to complement its suite of RF test tools for wireless technologies ranging from 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ac/ax to Bluetooth to 2G/3G/4G/4G/5G standards.
- Its NI-RFmx measurement software now supports the generation and measurement of NB-IoT and eMTC signals.
NB-IoT and eMTC technologies are used for wireless communication between machines and for IoT (Internet of Things) applications. They differ from LTE technology in their wider range and lower power consumption through the use of narrower frequency bandwidths and simplified radio designs.
The promise of low integration and power costs NB-IoT and eMTC represent a challenge for IoT hardware and application designers. To help them achieve these goals, National Instruments offers dedicated NB-IoT and eMTC test solutions combining appropriate measurement software with a range of RF, DC and digital instruments.
With NI-RFmx software associated with the vector signal transceiver, it is thus possible to measure a range of RF performance characteristics such as output power, modulation quality and spectral emissions.
NI DC measuring instruments can also be used to validate energy consumption with femtoampere (fA) resolutions.
