Keysight Infiniium XR8 Series Oscilloscope

Keysight Launches Infiniium XR8 Oscilloscopes Designed for Validation and Compliance of High-Speed Digital Interfaces

  • Keysight Technologies announces the launch of its Infiniium XR8 series of real-time oscilloscopes, designed for testing high-speed digital links and ensuring the compliance of modern interfaces.

The evolution of standards such as USB4, DisplayPort 2.1, and DDR5 is accompanied by increased data rates and greater demands on signal integrity. In this context, Keysight indicates that debugging and validation phases require instruments capable of characterizing phenomena such as jitter, noise, and equalization effects on serial and memory links.

Keysight Launches Infiniium XR8 Oscilloscopes Designed for Validation and Compliance of High-Speed Digital Interfaces
The Infiniium XR8 series oscilloscopes are based on a new hardware architecture integrating a dedicated front-end ASIC, coupled with a digital engine combining analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) and digital signal processing (DSP). This architecture aims to ensure consistency between time and electrical measurements in high-speed designs.

Main technical specifications of the Infiniium XR8 oscilloscopes:

  • Number of channels: 4 channels
  • Bandwidth: 8 GHz, 10 GHz, 13 GHz, 16 GHz, 20 GHz, 25 GHz, and 33 GHz
  • Sampling rate: up to 128 GS/s per channel
  • Memory depth: 1 Gpts per channel standard and up to 8 Gpts optional
  • Vertical resolution (ADC): 12 bits

The Infiniium XR8 series oscilloscopes are based on the new Infiniium 2026 software platform. This platform integrates analysis functions tailored to high-speed digital signals, including jitter decomposition, Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) analysis, equalization functions, and compliance reporting tools.

The software utilizes multithreaded processing and optimized memory management to accelerate acquisition and analysis. The user interface includes configurable viewing windows and automation tools, including an SCPI command recorder.

Mechanical Design and Lab Integration

The Infiniium XR8 series oscilloscopes feature a redesigned chassis aimed at reducing power consumption and improving thermal management. The compact form factor allows for integration into high-density laboratory environments, particularly for validation benches of electronic boards or digital subsystems.

Application Positioning

The Infiniium XR8 oscilloscopes are designed for validation and compliance activities of next-generation serial and memory interfaces. They are intended for teams working on high-speed digital designs in the fields of computing, data centers, embedded systems, and communication infrastructure.
