Solutions presented by Pickering Interfaces at Space-Comm Expo Europe 2026

  • Pickering Interfaces will present a sensor simulation demonstration for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) engine testing at Space-Comm Expo Europe 2026.
  • Space-Comm Expo Europe 2026 will bring together key players in the space sector to discuss topics related to orbital infrastructure, launch systems, and industrial and institutional applications.
  • The event will be held on March 4 and 5, 2026, at ExCeL London.

The demonstration is based on an 8-slot modular PXIe Gen3 chassis (part number 42-924). This chassis integrates a management system that monitors the supply voltage, internal temperature, and cooling fan speed.

The configuration shown includes several PXI and PXIe modules, including:

  • A PXIe embedded controller (43-920)
  • A PXI programmable power supply (41-740)
  • A PXI LVDT module with resolver functionality (41-670)
  • A PXI function generator (41-620)

The demonstration also incorporates a PXIe digitizer supplied by NI.

HIL testing is used to test embedded systems by reproducing sensor signals and operating conditions in a controlled manner. In the space industry, these methods are used to validate equipment for launch vehicles, satellites, and other orbital systems subjected to environmental stresses such as temperature variations, vibrations, and pressure differences.

According to Steven Edwards, product management manager at Pickering Interfaces, equipment for space applications must meet stringent requirements for tolerances and system integration. The test benches must therefore allow for the simulation and switching of signals with a level of repeatability compatible with these constraints.

In addition to this demonstration, Pickering Interfaces will also be showcasing the following at its booth:

  • A 21-slot PXIe chassis (42-927)
  • A PXI resistor module (40-297)
  • A PXI fault insertion module (40-200)
  • A PXI resolver module (41-670)
  • LXI and PXI microwave modules (60-890 and 40-890)

The British company will also be exhibiting Reed relays from its relay division, as well as specific cable assemblies offered by its connector division. Products manufactured by Pickering Interfaces are covered by a standard three-year warranty and a long-term support commitment.
