ESA Recognizes Rohde & Schwarz

  • The European Space Agency (ESA) celebrated 30 years of European satellite navigation at its Research and Technology Center.
  • On this occasion, ESA paid tribute to the key players who have helped shape the evolution of European satellite navigation systems such as Galileo and EGNOS.
  • Rohde & Schwarz was recognized by ESA with an Excellence Award for its contribution over the past three decades to the development of European satellite navigation systems.

This event brought together institutional and industrial partners, representatives of ESA Member States, and leading figures from the satellite navigation sector. The celebration provided an opportunity to review key milestones in the history of satellite navigation systems in Europe and to consider future developments. The awards ceremony, chaired by Javier Benedicto, ESA’s Director of Navigation, was a highlight of the evening. Alongside the former directors, he presented awards to organizations and partners, such as Rohde & Schwarz, who contributed to this success story.

“Our thirty-year involvement in the development of satellite navigation systems is a testament to our shared vision, our determination to push technological boundaries, and the establishment of intense and lasting collaboration. We are honored to have contributed to this remarkable achievement. Congratulations to everyone involved,” said Rob Short, Director of Business Development at Rohde & Schwarz.

This award recognizes Rohde & Schwarz’s role in the development of European satellite navigation technologies. Its contribution has been instrumental in the development and operational success of Galileo and EGNOS, the European positioning, navigation, and timing systems.

This event not only celebrated past achievements, but also laid the foundations for the future of European satellite navigation, with discussions on upcoming initiatives and developments.
