- The 2020 edition of the MWC (Mobile World Congress) will not take place.
- The annual world congress of mobile phone technologies, which was to be held in Barcelona from 24 to 27 February, has simply been cancelled.
- Due to the coronavirus outbreak and numerous exhibitor cancellations, the GSMA, the association organizing the event, had no other choice.
- This decision was taken after a series of cancellations by major exhibiting companies in the field (Ericsson, Nokia, Vivo, LG, Intel, Sony, Cisco and NTT Docomo) and to avoid seeing the number of visitors (over 100,000 in 2019) plummet.
- The appointment is nevertheless given for the 2021 edition which is scheduled from March 1st to March 4th.
