- Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its mid-range instrument portfolio with the launch of the R&S FPL1044 Series Spectrum Analyzer and the availability of a new 40 MHz Real-Time Spectrum Analysis (RTSA) option, available across the entire FPL family.
- These developments aim to meet the measurement and analysis needs of high-frequency applications while maintaining the company’s position in the mid-market segment.
The R&S FPL1044 Spectrum Analyzer covers a frequency range from 10 Hz to 44 GHz. According to Rohde & Schwarz, it is the first spectrum analyzer in this price range to reach this maximum frequency, enabling Ka-band measurements without requiring higher-end instruments. Within the FPL family, this model also stands out for its DC coupling support, enabling the analysis of very low-frequency signals as low as 10 Hz.
The instrument retains the compact size and portable design that characterize the FPL series spectrum analyzers, with a footprint suitable for benchtop or field use. It comes standard with a 2.92 mm male input connector, ideal for high-frequency measurements.
Real-time spectrum analysis capability
In parallel, Rohde & Schwarz offers the R&S FPL1-K41R option, which provides real-time spectrum analysis capability over a 40 MHz bandwidth. This option is compatible with all frequency versions of the FPL range. It enables the detection and analysis of short-duration transient events, with a probability of interception (POI) of 4.2 µs. On the FPL1044 model, this functionality is available across the entire frequency band up to 44 GHz.
These enhancements specifically target applications in the 26.5 GHz to 44 GHz range, used in the aerospace and defense, microwave component manufacturing, and research sectors. Areas of focus include satellite communications, radar systems, radio navigation, Earth observation, and radio astronomy. Targeted uses include testing and validation of systems and components, quality control in production, and on-site maintenance and troubleshooting.
