R & S ZNL Network analyzer and R & S FPL1000 spectrum analyzer of Rohde & Schwarz

R & S ZNL network analyzer and R & S FPL1000 spectrum analyzer combine compactness and versatility

  • Rohde & Schwarz launched, at the European Microwave Week 2017 in Nuremberg (Germany) from 8 to 13 October 2017, two compact and versatile instruments : the R & S ZNL network analyzer and the R & S FPL1000 spectrum analyzer .
  • These portable analyzers target applications related to research, maintenance and production.
  • With the appropriate options, the R & S ZNL network analyzer, covering a frequency band up to 6 GHz, can integrate a spectrum analyzer and turn into a power meter.
  • The R & S FPL1000 spectrum analyzer, which operates in a frequency range up to 3 GHz, can, as the R & S ZNL, turn into a noise figure meter.

Rohde & Schwarz designed the R & S ZNL Network Analyzer and the R & S FPL1000 Spectrum Analyzer to provide flexible solutions for measuring the most common RF signal parameters to characterize components such as antennas, attenuators, filters and amplifiers. These instruments also perform various measurements on signal sources: spectral measurements, analog and digital signal demodulation, power measurements.

These analyzers are equipped with a 10.1 “WXGA touch screen from which the user can set the center frequency and reference level and zoom the span or amplitude measurement range.

Integrated in a compact housing (408 mm x 235 mm) and weighing six to eight kilograms, these instruments, equipped with a carrying handle, can embedd an optional battery.

The R & S ZNL Network Analyzer:
Covering frequency ranges from 5 kHz to 3 GHz or 6 GHz, the R & S ZNL Network Analyzer has a dynamic range of up to 130 dB (typ.) And an output power range of -40 dBm to +3 dBm ( typ.). The measurement speed is 16.7 ms (401 points, 100 kHz IF bandwidth, 200 MHz span, 2-port full calibration). This analyzer comes standard with Embedding / DeEmbedding, test accessory compensation, and time domain measurements. It also supports automatic calibration units.

The R & S ZNL can also integrate a real spectrum analyzer. And when used with the R & S NRP power sensor, it acts as a power meter.

The spectrum analyzer R & S FPL1000:
The R & S FPL1000 Spectrum Analyzer operates over a frequency range from 5 kHz to 3 GHz. It has a typical phase noise of -108 dBc for a carrier at 1 GHz and a offset of 10 kHz, and a displayed average noise level (DANL) of -167 dBm with the optional preamplifier.

The spectral analysis mode of the R & S ZNL and R & S FPL1000 analyzers offers a range of spectral measurements:  channel power, adjacent-channel leakage ratio (ACLR), signal-to-noise ratio, spurious, harmonic distortions, third-order intercept point (TOI) and AM modulation depth.

With a standard 10 MHz and 40 MHz analysis band, these instruments can analyze analog signals using the R & S FPL1-K7 option.

Digital signals can be characterized using the R & S VSE software and the R & S VSE-K70 option.

The R & S FPL1-K30 option, combined with an external noise source, turns both the R&S FPL1000 and the R&S ZNL into a noise figure meter.
