B&K Precision HMR Series Power Supplies

B&K Precision Launches HMR Series Power Supplies

  • B&K Precision announces the launch of its new HMR series of DC power supplies, designed to meet the needs of automated test equipment (ATE) applications requiring a wide range of voltages and currents.
  • These power supplies, available in 10 kW and 18 kW ratings, feature a compact 3U form factor, autoranging, and output capacities up to 1950 V or 360 A.
  • They incorporate silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs for increased efficiency and reliability.

Unlike conventional fixed-range power supplies, the HMR series offers autoranging, allowing maximum power to be delivered at various voltage and current combinations. This feature is particularly useful for applications requiring rapid and precise changes in electrical parameters.

The compact 3U form factor of these power supplies saves rack space, an important feature for laboratories and production lines where space is limited. These power supplies can be integrated into existing ATE systems. Furthermore, their AC input voltage range (200 to 415 VAC) simplifies their use worldwide, without requiring major modifications to electrical infrastructure.

Main features

The HMR series power supplies incorporate various out-of-the-box features to facilitate integration into ATE systems. These include:

  • Protection: Overvoltage Protection (OVP), Overcurrent Protection (OCP), Overpower Protection (OPP), Overtemperature Protection (OTP), and key lock function.
  • Control Interfaces: USB and LXI-compliant LAN for remote control and programming via PC.
  • Optional Modules: User-installable GPIB and analog interfaces.
  • PC software: for generating test sequences and recording data without requiring coding.
  • Integrated web server: enabling remote instrument control via a web browser.

These features allow for configuration and control of the power supplies, while ensuring optimal protection of the equipment under test.

SiC Technology

One of the strengths of these power supplies lies in the use of silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs. These components offer lower on-state resistance, reduced switching losses, and superior thermal performance compared to traditional silicon (Si) transistors. This results in improved overall efficiency, reduced heat dissipation, and increased reliability, which is particularly important in industrial and test applications where stability and durability are critical.

Availability and Warranty

The HMR series is available now, starting at $13,550, and is covered by a standard 3-year warranty.
