- Canadian Exfo acquires InOpticals, a Taiwanese company specialised in very high-speed optical test instruments.
- InOpticals offers sampling oscilloscopes, Bit Error Rate Testers (BERTs), optical wavelength analyzers, eye analyzers and other instruments for testing transponders, components and optical network equipment.
Its offering is aimed at test applications of 400G/800G transmission technologies, such as transceivers using silicon photonic technology, active and passive components. The company also offers integrated test systems for deployment in R&D and production.
InOpticals’ solutions complement Exfo’s range of optical test systems, which has already been expanded by the acquisition of French company Yenista Optics in October 2017.
The final acquisition of InOpticals is expected to be completed by the end of October, subject to regulatory closing conditions. The amount of the acquisition, mainly valued in Exfo shares, has not been disclosed.
According to the Canadian group, this new acquisition will enable it to target a market valued at more than US$1 billion with all of its test and measurement solutions.
