Nordic's nRF52 and nRF53 series systems-on-chips

Nordic’s nRF Connect development kit supports Google’s Find My Device network

  • Nordic Semiconductor, a Norwegian specialist in low-power wireless connectivity solutions, announces that its nRF Connect software development kit (SDK) now supports Google’s Find My Device network and unknown tracker alert service.

Google’s Find My Device network enables users to locate their phones, headphones, connected watches and other Android-based devices.

The Unknown Tracker Alerts service, integrated into the Find My Device network, aims to protect users by alerting them if an unknown Bluetooth beacon is detected in their environment.

“Our collaboration with Google has enabled us to unveil nRF Connect SDK support for the network and unknown tracker alerts from the launch of the Find My Device network,” said Kjetil Holstad, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Product Management at Nordic.

This development enables users of Nordic’s nRF52 and nRF53 series systems-on-chips, which support the Bluetooth® Low Energy wireless communication protocol, to build device search solutions within the Android ecosystem.

The development software integrated into the nRF Connect SDK enables third-party device manufacturers to design products using Google’s Find My Device network and unknown tracker alert services.
