- Rohde & Schwarz has enhanced its FSWX multi-channel signal and spectrum analyzer with the R&S FSWX-KM700 software option.
- This option is specifically designed to characterize the behavior of Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) jammers, which are used in electronic warfare to intercept, alter, and re-transmit radar pulses in order to deceive detection systems.
The phase-coherent, dual-channel architecture of the FSWX analyzer enables simultaneous measurement of the incoming radar signal and the re-transmitted jamming signal. The FSWX-KM700 option leverages this capability to quantify jammer response time and latency (time-based capture measurements), as well as parameter differences between channels (phase, amplitude, or frequency deltas).
The software extracts key metrics for each pulse: width, amplitude, rise and fall times, pulse repetition interval (PRI), duty cycle, envelope shape, and overshoot. It supports the analysis of frequency-modulated (chirp) pulses as well as pulse width, position, or phase modulation.
Pulse Train Processing and Triggering Modes
At the full pulse train level, the module evaluates the repetition frequency and pulse-to-pulse variations. It provides trend histories and statistical tables calculated from a large number of recorded events to identify temporal or metrological drifts over time. To isolate specific sequences within complex signals, the system incorporates configurable trigger modes based on amplitude, pulse width, PRI, or user-defined patterns.
Rohde & Schwarz will showcase this option at European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2026, taking place in London from October 6 to 8, 2026.
