- In October 2026, Rohde & Schwarz will host the sixth edition of its Mobile Test Summit, an online event dedicated to wireless communication technologies and testing methods.
- This edition will focus on 6G and cover three areas currently under study for future networks: AI-native radio access networks (AI-native RAN), Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), and non-terrestrial networks (NTN).
- The summit will consist of three virtual sessions held on October 7, 14, and 21. Participants will be able to register for each session individually.
The first session, on October 7, will focus on AI-native RAN. This approach aims to integrate radio network functions and the computing capabilities required for artificial intelligence processing within a single architecture.
Beyond network architecture aspects, the session will address methods for validating and testing these systems. The use of AI in the RAN raises specific questions regarding network behavior characterization, software function validation, and performance assessment under various operating conditions.
ISAC: Communication and Sensing Using a Single Radio Infrastructure
On October 14, the summit will focus on Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC). This technology involves using a single radio infrastructure to simultaneously perform communication and environmental sensing functions.
ISAC systems can leverage radio signals exchanged between devices to gather information about their environment, in addition to their primary data transmission function. The session will present use cases currently under study as well as the challenges associated with their implementation. Testing is another key aspect of this session.
Integrating communication and sensing functions into a single system requires, among other things, defining methods to characterize both functions and their interactions.
Non-Terrestrial Networks at the heart of the third session
The final session, on October 21, will focus on Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs). These architectures combine elements such as satellites, high-altitude platforms, and drones to extend communication network coverage beyond terrestrial infrastructure.
The use of these various platforms introduces specific constraints for radio systems, particularly regarding propagation, mobility, synchronization, and link management. The session will cover market trends and deployment opportunities, as well as the technical challenges that remain to be solved to ensure continuous connectivity across wide areas.
The Mobile Test Summit 2026 will take place entirely online. Each topic will be offered in multiple time slots, allowing participants to choose a session that suits their time zone.
