Tektronix Offers TekExpress Solution for Multi-Gigabit Automotive Ethernet Compliance Testing

  • The TekExpress solution for automatic testing of compliance with the IEEE 802.3ch Multi-Gigabit Ethernet standard is now available.
  • This solution enables compliance testing of 10G/5G/2.5GBASE-T1 10G/5G/2.5GBASE-T1 Ethernet Physical Media Attachment (PMA) transmitters for automotive applications with Tektronix DPO70000 SX/DX Series oscilloscopes.

The technologies needed to develop autonomous vehicles, cars connected and communicating via 5G require the transfer of vast amounts of data over high-speed links. These links must be tested to ensure reliable transmissions between the various electronic subsystems in a vehicle.

Tektronix’ TekExpress solution for automated multi-gigabit automotive Ethernet compliance testing enables the validation and debugging of multi-gigabit Ethernet chipsets and electronic control units (ECUs). It enables measurements on Physical Media Attachment (PMA) transmitters up to 10 Gb/s. This test solution complies with the current version of the IEEE 802.3ch MultiGBASE-T1 specification.

“Multi-Gigabit Ethernet uses PAM4 modulation to provide reliable data transmission at high data rates, pushing the limits of signal integrity and raising the measurement requirements for debugging, validation and compliance testing of electronic systems. Debugging tools such as DPOJET and PAM4 Analysis also help identify the root cause of a failure,” said Raajit Lall, Managing Director of Market Solutions. In particular, Tektronix participates in the Open Alliance, whose mission is to develop specifications and test methodologies for embedded Ethernet networks in the automotive industry.

The new automotive Ethernet compliance test solution is designed for use with Tektronix DPO70000 SX/DX oscilloscopes. It complements the manufacturer’s existing offering of embedded network testing solutions, which includes automotive Ethernet compliance testing applications for 10BASE-T1S, 100-BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 standards.
