Rohde & Schwarz supports the UNH-IOL in Automotive Ethernet Testing

  • Rohde & Schwarz extends its support to the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) with an extension to their compliance test services.

The close collaboration on an automotive test platform between Rohde & Schwarz and UNH-IOL benefits OEMs, Tier1s, Tier2s, and system integrators who want to submit their products for compliance test certification.

The OPEN Alliance accredited test lab UNH-IOL has been in the forefront of developing automotive Ethernet testing since 2012.

For these test services, the lab has an extensive test bed including an R&S RTO2044 oscilloscope, enabling ECU vendors and OEMs to test their 100/1000BASE-T1 compliance testing, including physical layers (PHY) and electronic control units (ECU) based on TC8 OPEN Alliance test specifications in a single laboratory.

With the current addition of an R&S ZNB8 4-port vector network analyzer, the test range has been expanded to include TC9 test specification, specifically cable and connectors that make up the link segment section.

As a result, UNH-IOL customers can now achieve compliance for automotive Ethernet cables and connectors (link segment) based on the OPEN Alliance TC9 working group test specification supporting both unshielded (UTP) and shielded twisted pair cables and connectors (STP).
