DML Series Modular DC Electronic Load System from B&K Precision

B&K Precision Introduces the DML Series Modular DC Electronic Load System

  • B&K Precision announces the DML Series modular continuous (DC) electronic load system, designed for benchtop testing applications.
  • This configurable system can support up to four channels for a total power of 800 W.

The system is built around a 4U chassis with two slots. These slots accommodate interchangeable single-channel or dual-channel load modules, allowing the hardware configuration to be adapted to specific testing requirements.

Electrical Specifications and Operating Modes

The range includes five interchangeable modules with front-panel input connectors. Individually, these modules accept voltages up to 80 V and currents up to 80 A. For applications requiring higher currents, parallel operation allows for currents up to 160 A.

The DML series modules incorporate four standard operating modes: constant current (CC), constant voltage (CV), constant resistance (CR), and constant power (CW). The system also handles fast transient regimes up to a frequency of 25 kHz in constant current mode and features sweep modes to simulate dynamic load variations, complemented by integrated electronic protection devices.

Interface, Connectivity, and Applications

The front panel user interface allows independent control of each module. The operator can configure technical parameters such as voltage, current, slew rate, and pulse width. Test configurations and instrument settings can be saved to internal memory for later recall.

The main chassis, model number DML001, integrates several interfaces for remote control and industrial communication. It features LAN, USB (compatible with the USBTMC standard), RS232, and GPIB connections, all compatible with the SCPI command protocol. LabVIEW drivers and operating software are provided by the American manufacturer.

This modular architecture is designed for evaluating and testing various energy sources, such as multi-output DC power supplies, batteries, fuel cells, and photovoltaic systems. All models in the series come with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.
