- Lithuanian photonic source manufacturer Integrated Optics has selected the Yokogawa AQ6373E series optical spectrum analyzer to support the development and quality control of its MatchBox® line of ultra-compact lasers (picture).
- This instrument enables the measurement of spectral purity for emissions in the visible and near-infrared ranges.
In applications such as microscopy, flow cytometry, or quantum technologies, secondary spectral components near the primary wavelength can compromise measurement accuracy. Characterizing these sources requires identifying low-intensity modes located very close to the dominant emission peak.
The AQ6373E series optical spectrum analyzer covers a wavelength range of 350 nm to 1,200 nm. It features a close-in dynamic range of approximately 60 dB, allowing the main signal to be distinguished from spurious secondary lines and their exact amplitudes to be assessed. Its sensitivity enables measurements at low optical input levels, simplifying test bench architecture.

Calibration Process Automation
The MatchBox® platform integrates optics, control electronics, and a thermal stabilization system into a matchbox-sized housing. Maintaining spectral stability in these miniaturized systems requires precise calibration against temperature variations.
The Yokogawa instrument interfaces with Integrated Optics’ automated test benches to execute calibration and validation procedures during mass production. Using a single analysis platform for the entire visible and near-infrared spectrum streamlines measurement protocols across the full range of CW, multi-wavelength, and pulsed lasers.
