Qorvo completes acquisition of Decawave

  • Qorvo, a supplier of radio frequency communication components and solutions, completed the acquisition of Decawave, a specialist in Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and provider of UWB solutions for mobile, automotive and IoT applications.
  • Decawave becomes the Ultra-Wideband Business Unit (UWBU) within Qorvo’s Mobile Products division.

Based in Dublin, Ireland, Decawave was founded in 2007 and has deployed more than 8 million chips in over 40 different vertical markets, from smartphones to UAVs.

Decawave’s UWB technology enables the deployment of location-based services with a positioning accuracy of just a few centimeters, and with extremely low latency.

Ciaran Connell, CEO of Decawave, will lead Qorvo’s UWBU team as General Manager.

Qorvo is a US-based semiconductor company that designs, manufactures and supplies radio frequency systems for wireless and broadband communications. The company is the result of the merger of TriQuint Semiconductor and RF Micro Devices, announced in 2014 and completed on January 1, 2015.
