The PXIe-3988 controller uses multiple computing engines on a single processor. It is therefore capable of executing four independent tasks simultaneously, targeting calculation-intensive test and measurement applications.
This distribution of processing loads across six Xeon cores at a clock speed of 2.8 to 4.5 GHz is intended to reduce processing times for signal and data intensive processing applications, such as radio frequency (RF) testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation.
With an automatically configured PCIe switch, the PXIe-3988 controller can support four x4 or two x8 PXI Express links, providing a maximum system throughput of 16 GB/s per PCI Express 3.0 bus.
It features two DisplayPort connectors, two USB 3.0 connections, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0 ports and a Micro-D GPIB connector for connecting GPIB instruments.
