Dspace Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Station Emulator

Dspace announces a new electric vehicle battery charging station emulator

  • Dspace expands its range of solutions for the development and testing of charging technologies with the Smart Charging Station Emulator offering up to 85 kW of power.
  • This solution allows electric vehicle manufacturers and battery system suppliers to realistically test their developments according to different charging standards and protocols and to simulate a variety of faults.

The charging station emulator is based on the charging solution that Dspace brought to the market last year. Smart Charging Solution is used to test on-board chargers, charging stations and communication modules. It consists of a Scalexio real-time simulator, a dynamic and scalable model that runs on the simulator, and a power supply that allows DC charging and discharging at up to 85 kW. Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) scenarios can also be simulated.

All components are integrated in a robust rack mounted on wheels. The system can therefore be used in the laboratory as well as for tests on prototype vehicles in workshops. Operator safety is ensured by functions such as automatic cable recognition, connection communication and load release, insulation monitoring and emergency stop switches.

To emulate a variety of charging stations and scenarios in real time, the system supports various international charging communication standards such as ISO 15118 and DIN SPEC 70121, GB/T 27930, GB/T 18487, and CHAdeMO. New charging standards such as CHAdeMO 3.0 or ChaoJi can also be implemented.

The charging station emulator allows AC charging up to 63 A and DC charging up to 200 A or 85 kW.
