Coolidge is the third generation of Kalray’s MPPA DPUs

Kalray joins forces with Arm

  • Kalray announces its collaboration with Arm to deliver ultra-high performance data processing and AI solutions, leveraging Kalray’s data processor unit (DPU) and Arm’s ecosystem of partners.

Today, some IT applications require significant data processing and AI capabilities, whether on a Cloud platform, in servers, storage solutions, connections between servers or in Edge Computing.

Combining the AI and data acceleration capabilities of Kalray’s DPU technology with Arm’s partner ecosystem aims to make these solutions available to hardware and software developers.

The collaboration will see Kalray integrate the Arm® Neoverse™ Coherent Mesh Network (CMN) interconnect technology into its next-generation DPU data processing chiplet processor and AI accelerator, codenamed ‘Dolomites’. This integration will allow Kalray’s DPU to be connected to Arm-based chiplets using the Arm CMN interconnect solution, supplied in the same package.

A “chiplet” is an elementary chip that can be assembled in the same package with other chiplets. This technology makes it possible to develop processors that combine several chiplets, offering greater flexibility and performance than traditional approaches.

Founded in 2008 as a spin-off from the CEA, the French Kalray is specialised in hardware and software technologies dedicated to the management and intensive processing of data from the Cloud to the Edge. Its offering includes patented DPU (Data Processing Unit) processors, acceleration cards and data storage and management software solutions.

Arm, a UK company, specialises in the development of RISC processors and intellectual property (IP) blocks. The Arm ecosystem includes products optimised for servers, the cloud, telecommunications, edge computing and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.
