Trescal, a specialist in metrology services, announces the acquisition of the American laboratory Acucal, located in Virginia, North Carolina, Arizona and Hawaii. This is the company’s fifth acquisition in 2017, followed by the US Exphil Calibration Labs in January and the Canadian Digital Measurement Metrology (DMM) in February, L3M Technologies (L3M) in Singapore in March, and German Gebhardt Instruments in April.
Trescal is continuing its business acquisition cycle around the world. With the acquisition of Acucal, the group specialized in metrology consolidates its geographical coverage in the United States. The transaction was carried out as always with the support of Ardian its majority shareholder.
Acucal, founded in 1987 in Manassas, Virginia, is an A2LA accredited company and has technical expertise in the electrical fields (DC / Low Frequency and Microwave). In addition to its four laboratories, the American company, which employs 40 people, operates a fleet of six mobile laboratories that enable it to serve its customers throughout the country. It has a turnover of approximately $ 5.3 million and it is particularly active in the Electronics, Aeronautics and Defense markets. Thomas Efaw, founder of the laboratory, remains in charge of the company.
With this acquisition, Trescal now has 20 laboratories in the United States and employs more than 450 people. This transaction is the 22nd acquisition since the acquisition of Trescal in July 2013 by Ardian, an independent private investment company.
According to Thibault Basquin, Managing Director Ardian Mid Cap Buyout, this acquisition reflects Trescal and Ardian’s desire to actively pursue the targeted acquisition strategy on the North American continent, where the market is still very fragmented ant the opportunities of growth are strong.
