Mobile World Congress 2021 to be held in a hybrid format

  • The 2021 edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC21) will be held at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from June 28 to July 1, 2021.
  • MWC21, will be held as a hybrid event. Participants will be able to attend in person or online: 35,000 participants are expected to attend in person and thousands more online.
  • MWC21 will build on the lessons learned from the GSM Association’s first hybrid event earlier this year in Shanghai.

One-third of the 350 speakers at MWC21 will participate virtually. Microsoft Teams is the GSMA’s official partner for video conferencing and meetings. Integrated with existing MyMWC digital platforms, Teams offers a range of features designed to ensure the best possible experience for face-to-face and virtual participants, according to the GSMA.

Online attendees can participate in live virtual tours of the show led by industry experts, ask questions via chat or view sessions on demand. A series of “themed tours” sponsored by Dell Technologies, Orange, Royole, ZTE and Kaspersky will cover topics such as 5G and the Internet of Things. Exhibitors such as Orange and TelcoDR will also offer company tours to showcase their latest products and innovations.

A series of virtual and hybrid events are also on the agenda. These sessions will feature companies such as AWS, Braze, Facebook Connectivity, Huawei, IBM, KORE, Lenovo, Nvidia and Snapchat.

The virtual workshops will cover a variety of topics: automotive, financial technologies, manufacturing, mobile IoT, edge computing and drones. Each session will be moderated by a domain expert who will lead the discussions.

The MyMWC app will provide users with personalized meeting and contact recommendations. In particular, the integrated video conferencing feature offers attendees the ability to connect with people wherever they are in the world.
