Rohde & Schwarz Acquires ZES Zimmer Electronic Systems

  • Rohde & Schwarz announced the acquisition of its compatriot ZES Zimmer Electronic Systems, a privately held German company based in Oberursel, Hesse, which has been designing, developing, and manufacturing power measurement equipment for four decades.

The rapid rise of electrification is transforming the energy and mobility sectors. Power electronics is the essential driver of this transformation. With the acquisition of ZES Zimmer, Rohde & Schwarz is expanding its range of test and measurement instruments to better meet this demand.

ZES Zimmer’s solutions will help strengthen Rohde & Schwarz’s position in the power electronics system testing market. The Hesse-based family-owned company, which employs approximately sixty people, will be integrated into the Rohde & Schwarz Group. Its site will continue to be used for the development of power measurement equipment.

“The decarbonization and electrification of various sectors will have a major impact on the demand for power electronics and power measurement in the coming decades. The merger with Rohde & Schwarz will enable ZES Zimmer to fully exploit these growth opportunities. Georg Zimmer founded the company in 1980, and over the past four decades, his employees have built a company passionate about technology and engineering, whose products are known and appreciated worldwide,” said Dr. Conrad Zimmer, Managing Partner of ZES Zimmer Electronics Systems.

ZES Zimmer’s product portfolio addresses a variety of applications, including electromobility, industrial electronics, and renewable energy. It includes power analyzers and compliance testing solutions for EN61000-3-2/-12 harmonics, EN61000-3-3/-11 flicker and IEC62301 / EN50564:2011 standby mode.
