5G STS test solution from Rohde & Schwarz.C

Rohde & Schwarz offers an integrated 5G station test solution

  • Rohde & Schwarz presents a 5G telecom station test solution that combines all the tools for approval testing and troubleshooting of gNodeB stations.
  • The 5G STS solution consists of the R&S TSMA6 receiver in combination with the R&S TSME30DC downconverter, the QualiPoc Android handheld network troubleshooting tool and the R&S Cable Rider ZPH analyzer.

At the heart of this solution is the R&S TSMA6 stand-alone receiver. It has an automatic channel detection (ACD) function for displaying all LTE and 5G signals, identifying the channel frequency and decoding PCI/SSB information. It therefore provides all the information needed to analyze the signal quality.

Using the QualiPoc Android smartphone, technical teams operating in the field can detect the presence of a 5G carrier and check key parameters such as uplink and downlink speed and latency. QualiPoc Android carries out measurements to assess cell and beam quality. It verifies the presence and quality of the LTE anchor cell, an essential operation in 5G NSA (non-standalone) mode.

The optional R&S Cable Rider ZPH analyzer combines spectral analysis as well as cable and antenna testing capabilities in a single instrument. It can measure the occupied bandwidth of the 5G carrier. It isolates the uplink signal using a time window. This is essential for identifying interference in TDD (time division duplex) networks. The “zero span” function displays the single-sideband (or SSB, single-sideband modulation) in the time domain and determines the number of beams present. The R&S Cable Rider ZPH can also measure optical power and RF parameters such as the standing wave ratio (SWR) and locate faults relative to the cell station.

With the 5G STS solution from Rohde & Schwarz, engineering teams deployed in the field can take advantage of the Automatic Channel Detection (ACD) function to automatically configure the receiver with the appropriate measurement parameters instead of manually entering them into the instrument. This solution is also faster and more sensitive than a traditional spectrum analyzer. It can perform 5G and LTE tests simultaneously, and perform all the tests needed to verify and troubleshoot a 5G station using a single integrated system.
