40-559 family of PXI matrices of Pickering

With 40-559 models, Pickering’s PXI matrices increase in density

Pickering Interfaces, a provider of modular systems for signal switching and simulation, is introducing its new BRIC range of ultra high density arrays in PXI format.

The new range of Ultra-High-Density Large PXI Matrix Modules (model 40-559) are 1Amp/20W switching modules, with up to 4,096 crosspoints. The matrices are available in 2, 4, or 8-slot PXI sizes and are designed for high-performance matrix requirements.

“These matrices are designed with the new 4mm x 4mm Reed relays from our sister company Pickering Electronics, which have the highest density on the market,” said Keith Moore, CEO of Pickering Interfaces. “By integrating these relays into our PXI BRIC matrices, we now offer a density that is twice as high as any matrix in the PXI 1Amp switching field.”

Due to their density, these PXI matrices allow a complete ATE functional system to contain in a single PXI 3U chassis. They also make it possible to use PXI chassis with 8 or 14 slots. This presents a lower cost.

The arrays incorporate an analog bus to minimize the cost and complexity of wiring between the unit under test and instrumentation.

This matrices feature Pickering’s built-in relay self-test (BIRST) capabilities. It also supports test tools for the eBIRST switching system. These tools provide a simple and fast means of detecting faults in the relays on board.

Matrices of the 40-559 family can be used in a variety of industrial applications such as automotive ECU and semiconductor package testing. Dual analog bussing for the narrower matrix options, enable completely separate matrices within a single module for parallel testing.
