Electro Rent Celebrates 60 Years

  • Founded in 1965, Electro Rent is celebrating sixty years in the field of supplying and managing test and measurement equipment.
  • Initially focused on renting test instruments, the American company has progressively expanded its scope to now offer a range of services including rental, leasing, and sales of new or certified refurbished equipment, as well as asset optimization services for organizations facing complex testing needs.

Over the decades, Electro Rent has developed a partnership model for industrial companies, engineering teams, and purchasing departments. This evolution has been accompanied by a diversification of equipment access methods, including lease-to-own programs and solutions tailored to the budgetary and scheduling constraints of testing projects.

The California-based company now manages a fleet of test equipment worth over one billion dollars, covering a wide range of technologies and manufacturers. These resources are deployed in sectors with stringent technical and regulatory requirements, such as aerospace and defense, semiconductors, telecommunications, and automotive electronics.

Geographic Expansion and Targeted Investments

Electro Rent’s growth has been driven by gradual geographic expansion. Strategic acquisitions, including Microlease and Livingston, have strengthened its presence in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Simultaneously, the opening of new sites in Asia-Pacific has supported the development of a globally operating organization.

This strategy has resulted in continuous investments in logistics and operational infrastructure, including warehouses and service centers in California, Mechelen (Belgium), and Penang (Malaysia), designed to support equipment availability and maintenance.

Digital Services and Technical Support

To mark its anniversary, Electro Rent is highlighting several developments introduced over the years in test equipment management. These include a dedicated digital customer portal, flexible contractual arrangements, and application engineering services designed to support users in selecting and deploying the instruments best suited to their needs.

These services address the constantly evolving test environments characterized by the emergence of technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G networks, electric vehicles, satellite systems, and other advanced applications.
