- Electro Rent has inaugurated its new European facility in the Belgian city of Mechelen, north of Brussels.
- Bart Somers, Mayor of Mechelen, and Michael Clark, CEO of Electro Rent, officially opened the new building on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
- This new center of excellence offers increased capacity to cope with the growing business of the American company specializing in the rental and sale of electronic test equipment.
When a company relocates, it’s often because of a lack of space, or because its location is no longer suited to its business. Due to the growth of its business, Electro Rent was feeling cramped in its old buildings in Mechelen. But the Belgian city was also perfectly suited to its needs. As a result, the company moved into a building just a few dozen meters from its old premises. This provides more space, greater working comfort for the site’s employees, and improved processes for receiving, checking and shipping electronic test and measurement instruments.
Electro Rent now occupies a building of over 3200 square meters. The laboratory has tripled in size, while the warehouse has quadrupled. The storage racks offer 200% greater capacity than in the old building. Office space has also been increased. Electro Rent currently employs 35 people at the site, and plans to continue recruiting over the next few years to meet the growing demand from its various end markets.
This extension should enable the Mechelen site to process, inspect and dispatch instruments more rapidly, while maintaining a high level of quality. Rental and used equipment is systematically checked for functionality and completeness, and calibrated where necessary in the company’s own accredited laboratory or by its approved suppliers. The new calibration laboratory enables calibrations to be carried out under the environmental conditions required by temperature and humidity control in the room.
The warehouse has been fitted with additional shelving to store more material. The warehouse’s logistical flow has been optimized to streamline processes. A new transit area enables equipment and incoming stock to be completely separated. These improvements contribute to enhanced warehouse efficiency. Fast access times and short routes should translate into increased productivity.
