NI completes acquisition of Heinzinger Automotive

  • NI has completed the acquisition of Heinzinger Automotive, the electric vehicle power systems business of Rosenheim, Germany-based Heinzinger electronic.

The acquisition expands NI’s (formerly National Instruments) offering of systems for vehicle electrification, battery testing and sustainable energy.

The Texas-based firm’s executives believe that NI and Heinzinger Automotive hold highly complementary positions in the testing of components used by the automotive industry for vehicle electrification.

“We will continue to prioritize inorganic investments that strategically align with our business to accelerate growth,” said Eric Starkloff, president and CEO of NI. “The addition of Heinzinger’s complementary expertise and capabilities will help strengthen our systems offerings and expand our global footprint in the rapidly growing electrification space.”

For the Texas-based company, the goal of this acquisition and that of NH Research, which closed in the fourth quarter of 2021, is to accelerate the company’s ability to serve the development of the vehicle electrification market.

NI estimates that revenues from the two acquired businesses will represent 3 to 4 percent of NI’s total revenue in 2022.
