R&S HMP5050 power supply from Rohde & Schwarz

Rohde & Schwarz announces the R&S HMP5050 five-channel DC power supply.

  • At the electronica 2026 trade fair, held in Munich from November 10 to 13, Rohde & Schwarz will unveil a new laboratory DC power supply from the R&S HMP5050 series.
  • This unit expands the HMP family, joining the existing R&S HMP2000 and R&S HMP4000 models.
  • It features five independent channels and delivers a maximum total output power of 560 W.

The R&S HMP5050 power supply is equipped with a 4.3-inch (10.9 cm) color touchscreen, which simultaneously displays the voltage and current values for all five channels. This layout allows users to view the output parameters for every channel via a single interface.

Each channel can be configured to deliver up to 35 V and 15 A, with a maximum power of 180 W per channel. The power supply features a residual ripple of less than 350 µV RMS. The five channels can be connected in series to increase the output voltage or in parallel to boost the available current.

The setup can be further expanded by interconnecting multiple instruments, allowing for centralized control of up to 64 channels. Connected units synchronize automatically, while each channel remains individually accessible for control and analysis tasks.

These channel and instrument-coupling capabilities are particularly well-suited for automated production test benches and applications requiring multiple independent power sources. At electronica, Rohde & Schwarz will present a demonstration setup illustrating the simultaneous powering of various electronic components and circuits, as well as the different ways in which the channels can be coupled.

The R&S HMP5050 series power supply will be brought to market in the spring of 2027 by Rohde & Schwarz and select distributors.
