- With their new K58 option, the R&S RTO and R&S RTP oscilloscopes from Rohde & Schwarz provide a solution for triggering and decoding 1000BASE-T1 Ethernet links integrated in automotive embedded networks.
With the new Option K58, the R&S RTO and R&S RTP oscilloscopes can debug and validate 1000BASE-T1 on-board networks and the implementation of electronic control units. The decoded data is displayed in a table as well as in a traditional honeycomb diagram. Key parameters such as inactivity, MAC address or error frames are easily identifiable through appropriate color coding. With the R&S RT-ZF7 probe system, bi-directional transmission data streams can be decoded simultaneously. In addition, oscilloscopes can decode up to four serial buses at the same time.
Search tools simplify the analysis phase for long signal sequences. Specific messages, their contents and errors can be identified. All detected events are time-stamped and displayed in a table. The user can then examine them individually and zoom in on areas of interest and navigate between the different events with the appropriate time correlation.
The new trigger and decode function combined with the bus measurement option K35, which performs detailed measurements such as the error frame rate and the number of consecutive frame errors, allows the link stability to be determined. More parameters related to bus synchronization can be analyzed such as delay between frames or between any trigger event and the next bus frame. Error rates and frame synchronization are measured simultaneously.
The ability to combine measurement and statistical functions of the bus parameters provides an overview of bus capacity, error rates and latency problems. All of these analyses require no additional instruments.
