- The periodicity of calibration of an instrument or means of measurement is an interval of time within which there is a high probability that the drift of a piece of measuring equipment has not exceeded the acceptable limits for the user company.
- According to ISO 9001:2015, which specifies the requirements for a quality management system, measuring instruments must be calibrated and/or verified at specified intervals or before use, against measurement standards related to international or national measurement standards.
- This specified interval, which must be justifiable, represents the calibration periodicity, i.e. the time between two calibrations and/or verifications.
