RTO-K87 software option for compliance testing of IEEE 1000Base-T1 with Rohde & Schwarz RTO oscilloscopes

Rohde & Schwarz and Spirent offer an TC8 Automotive Ethernet test platform

  • Rohde & Schwarz and Spirent announce a partnership to provide an integrated test solution, providing physical and protocol layer coverage for the test specifications of TC8 Ethernet automotive ECUs.

According to Nik Dimitrakopoulos of Rohde & Schwarz, “Automotive Ethernet, 100/1000BASE-T1 today and Multi-Giga Ethernet in the future, will dominate future embedded networks. However, Ethernet-based embedded network systems and protocols require new and more complex test approaches than those implemented for traditional networks based on CAN or LIN buses.

Through this partnership, Rohde & Schwarz and Spirent, both members of the OPEN Alliance (One-Pair Ether-Net) Special Interest Group (SIG), offer a compliance and debugging testing solution for 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 covering both the physical and protocol layers.

Rohde & Schwarz offers a test solution covering all mandatory test cases for the PHY layer combining the R&S RTO oscilloscope and the R&S ZND vector network analyzer. Spirent completes this solution with its Automotive C50 test platform that supports all protocol layers.

The OPEN Alliance Special Interest Group has launched a test plan to verify the correct implementation of several standards and protocols in automotive Ethernet ECU ECUs, called the “OPEN Alliance Automotive Ethernet ECU Test Specification – TC8 ECU and Network Test”. Full coverage of the TC8 ECU test specifications is required by OEMs to ensure interoperability of automotive Ethernet communication devices. TC8 defines the test processes and guides the organizations that perform ECU tests.
