Keysight's Open RAN Studio

Aethertek Selects Keysight’s Solutions to Validate Open-RAN Radio Units

  • Keysight Technology announced that Aethertek has chosen its Open RAN Studio solution to validate the end-to-end performance of its O-RAN (O-RU) radio units for 5G communications realized in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) domain.

Devices using 5G millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication technology have more bandwidth and achieve lower latency. This allows them to be used for mission-critical communications and industrial applications. To ensure that electronic designs deliver optimal performance in real-world use cases, they must be tested under realistic conditions.

Keysight’s Open RAN Studio provides an over-the-air (OTA) test environment that includes both radio frequency (RF) and protocol tools to emulate real-world traffic experienced by an Open-RAN radio unit (O-RU).

The Open RAN Studio software is based on the same 5G signal generation and feature measurement technology used by Keysight’s spectrum analyzers and signal generators.

Using Open RAN Studio, Aethertek was able to validate the performance of its millimeter-wave (mmWave) RF front-end modules and phased antenna arrays that are critical components of its O-RU radio units for 5G communication at millimeter frequencies.

Keysight’s integrated hardware and software solutions, such as Open RAN Studio, are designed to validate performance, establish interoperability between network elements and ensure their compliance with the latest O-RAN specifications.
