reference development platform for 30kW DC fast chargers from Infineon and Arrow.

Arrow and Infineon join forces to develop fast battery chargers for electric vehicles

  • Arrow Electronics and its engineering services company, eInfochips, are collaborating with Infineon Technologies AG to accelerate the development of battery chargers for electric vehicles.

In Arrow’s view, the development of electric vehicle chargers, particularly fast DC chargers, is becoming increasingly complicated for equipment manufacturers due to their lack of experience, stringent requirements in terms of functional safety and reliability, and a support network that is still underdeveloped.

The collaboration between Arrow and Infineon is designed to help companies develop automotive battery charging systems. The aim is to accelerate design cycles while reducing risk, and provide access to a global support team to plan and manage product roadmaps and life cycles.

As part of this collaboration, Arrow’s High Power Center of Excellence has developed a 30 kW DC fast charger reference platform. This includes Infineon’s 1200V CoolSiCâ„¢ Easy power modules, as well as hardware design, embedded firmware, bi-directional charging support and energy measurement functionality.

The first fruit of this collaboration, a reference development platform for 30kW DC fast chargers, is being presented at the Applied Power Electronics conference, taking place February 25-29 in Long Beach, California.
