OPPO finalizes the development of its 5G smartphones with Keysight’s test solutions

  • OPPO used 5G NR network emulation solutions based on Keysight’s UXM solution to establish 5G video transmission in its OPPO laboratory.

Keysight Technologies announced that OPPO, one of the world’s top five mobile device manufacturers, has selected Keysight’s 5G New Radio (NR) network emulation solutions for protocol and radio frequency (RF) performance validation in sub-6GHz frequency bands (FR1).

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer plans to launch its first mobile device operating according to the 5G standard in 2019. It relies on Keysight’s 5G test solutions to achieve its strategic go-to-market goals.

On November 29, 2018, OPPO used 5G NR network emulation solutions based on Keysight’s UXM solution to successfully establish a 5G video call, making one of the first 5G signalling and data connections from a mobile phone marketed by OPPO.

Keysight’s 5G NR network emulation solutions, which comply with the latest 3GPP 5G NR standards, are used by chip manufacturers and their mobile device ecosystems for the development and validation of new designs for electronic devices communicating according to the 5G mobile phone standard. These solutions support both sub-6GHz and mmWave frequencies for conducted and over-the-air (OTA) testing. Common development tools enable users to share design insights gained across each stage of the device lifecycle.
