Rohde & Schwarz announces growth in results for the financial year 2019/2020

  • Rohde & Schwarz announces improved results for its fiscal year 2019/2020 despite a global economic environment impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Turnover of the German group, headquartered in Munich, is growing for the third consecutive year. In its fiscal year 2017/2018, it broke through the two billion euro mark for the first time. In the fiscal year 2019/2020 (July 2019 to June 2020) it reached 2.58 billion euros.

According to Rohde & Schwarz, its good results are due to the consistent diversification of its activities in a variety of areas: communications, connectivity, IoT, information and security technology, broadcasting, radar, automotive, satellite transmission, cyber security, air traffic control and security scanners for passenger screening, and radio and communications equipment for the navy.

In particular, Rohde & Schwarz has benefited from the first deployment of 5G networks. The German family-owned company believes that the drop in sales of user equipment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic did not significantly curb investments in this area during the first half of the year. The size of the market and the competition from network infrastructure providers and user equipment manufacturers helped maintain a very high level of investment in test and measurement solutions. Rohde & Schwarz reports that it has taken advantage of this opportunity across the entire mobile communications value chain.

Rohde & Schwarz, which employs around 12,300 people worldwide, is well aware that the COVID-19 pandemic has confronted the world with an unprecedented challenge whose impact is virtually impossible to assess. The German technology company anticipates that its business sectors will be affected to varying degrees over the next fiscal year. However, the company believes that the diversification of its target markets will be a valuable asset and that it has the right processes and an optimal structure to deal with all possible scenarios that may arise.
