- Rohde & Schwarz offers mobile phone manufacturers and mobile operators a solution capable of testing and verifying the operation of LBS (Location Based Services) on devices communicating according to the 5G NR standard.
- The German manufacturer announces that it has successfully completed, in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, an A-GPS LPP test session on 5G NR using a device using athe Snapdragon X55 5G modem and Qualcomm RF Front-end solutions.
The unit was able to establish a 5G non-standalone (NSA) connection and perform GPS measurements in accordance with 3GPP requirements.
Geolocation technologies now play a crucial role in mobile devices. As services become more personalized, localization will be critical for many 5G services. As a result, the LBS (Location Based Services) performance of mobile devices must be verified in a laboratory environment before they are launched on the market.
The R&S TS-LBS test system, which combines the R&S CMX500 and R&S CMW500 radio communication testers and the R&S SMBV100B vector signal generator, covers all requirements for verifying 3GPP compliance according to network operators’ test procedures for location services (LBS) according to 5G NR, LTE, WLAN, WCDMA and GSM standards.
Test coverage includes performance and protocol tests, which can be extended to cover R&D-level control testing or VoNR E911 in 5G NR Standalone mode.
