- Tektronix has announced the availability of its SignalVu 5G NR analysis software for its 6 Series B MSO oscilloscopes.
- This software application enables oscilloscope-based measurements of parameters specific to 5G NR mobile communication technology in accordance with 3GPP specifications.
- The 5G NR signal analysis software tool is also available for the DPO70000SX series of high-performance oscilloscopes with bandwidths up to 70 GHz and the Tektronix RSA500 and RSA5000 real-time signal analyzers.
In addition to RF signal analysis, the 6 Series B MSO oscilloscopes provides waveform visualization of power rail, digital control bus and I/O signals. Each channel is associated with a digital down converter that allows spectral analysis synchronized with the acquired time domain waveforms.
These oscilloscopes now have 5G NR signal analysis capabilities. This allows the interactions between signals in the frequency and time domains to be examined with a single instrument. This can also eliminate the need for vector signal analyzers, according to Tektronix.
The new analysis software package enables pass/fail testing of the 5G NR physical layer to qualify transmitter designs according to the 3GPP 5G NR Release 15/16 test specification. It supports signal quality measurements such as error vector magnitude (EVM), adjacent channel power (ACP), spectral emission mask (SEM) and power versus time (PVT).
Tektronix developed the new 5G NR analysis package using algorithms developed by NI (formerly National Instruments).
The 5G NR physical layer analysis solution takes advantage of the analysis bandwidth of up to 2 GHz and the low noise of the Tektronix 6 Series B MSO oscilloscopes. These oscilloscopes have a contribution of less than 51.1 µV of noise at 1 mV/div and 1 GHz, and less than 1.39 mV of noise at 50 mV/div and 10 GHz.
