Exfo announced the FTB-740C-CWDM, a tunable optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) that tests all 18 ITU-defined CWDM channels using the compact FTB-1 platform, without having to swap modules.
With this solution, accordint to Exfo, multiple-service operators (MSOs) and contractors can always have the CWDM wavelength required for characterizing through multiplexers and demultiplexers (MUX/DEMUX) to provide end-to-end link characterization or troubleshooting for commercial services, C-RAN networks and metro Ethernet deployments.
Exfo’s newest OTDR was designed to evolve as requirements of customers. Users can start with as few as eight wavelengths and they can add additional CWDM wavelengths or other fiber characterization features as needed, all from a software update in the field.
This solution will be demonstrated by Opternus at Anga Com 2017 in Cologne, Germany, from May 30 to June 1, and by Exfo at 2017 Fiber Connect in Orlando, Florida, from June 12 to 14.
Exfo is simultaneously launching the FTBx-740C-CWDM module, available on the FTB-2 portable platform.
