Pico Announces PicoScope 6000E Series Flexible Resolution Oscilloscope Modules

  • Pico Technology completes its PicoScope family of modular oscilloscopes offering flexible resolution with the 6000E FlexRes series.
  • The 6000E FlexRes oscilloscopes, with a bandwidth of 500 MHz, have 8 analog inputs sampled at up to 5 GS/s and 16 digital channels.
  • These modular instruments, which are controlled via an external PC, digitize signals with 8, 10 or 12-bit resolution.

The top-of-the-range model, the PicoScope 6824E, comes standard with a dual analog-to-digital conversion system operating at 5 GS/s and a memory depth of 4 GS/s.

The FlexRes architecture allows the user to configure the signal acquisition mode at a sampling rate of up to 5 GS/s at 8-bit resolution, or up to 12-bit resolution at 1.25 GS/s.

The memory depth allows events to be captured over a long period of time while maintaining a high sampling rate. With a standard 4 GS/s memory, PicoScope 6824E can record a 200 millisecond signal at a sampling rate of 5 GS/s. Once the signals have been sampled, they can be browsed using navigation tools within the buffer memory. Zoom functions are available.

The PicoScope 6000E Series oscilloscope modules are controlled via the graphical user interface of the PicoScope 6 PC software, which is available in 22 languages. The software presents information in time, frequency and numerical domain, according to the user’s requirements. User-defined mask test and alarm functions are available, as well as the ability to segment capture memory from 1 to 10,000.

PicoScope 6 oscilloscopes have decoding capabilities for 21 serial bus protocols as well as parallel buses. These include support for BroadR-Reach (100BASE-T1) Automotive Ethernet, Manchester and DALI.

All models have less than 50 dB of harmonic distortion at 1 MHz and a spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) of more than 60 dB (PicoScope 6824E). The basic noise specification is less than 150 μV RMS over nearly the entire sensitive range.

They also incorporate a 200 MS/s arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) and a 50 MHz function generator.

In addition, Pico Technology offers a new Pico “gooseneck” probe support system designed for use with 2.5 mm spring tip passive probes.

PicoScope 6000E Series oscilloscopes are available from 10532€ ($11395).
