Pickering 40-619 PXI Multiplexer

Pickering 40-619 Series PXI Multiplexer Provides Switch Channel Monitoring

  • Pickering Interfaces, a provider of modular switching and signal simulation solutions for electronic test and verification, announces PXI format multiplexer modules (Model 40-619) that provide open state monitoring of any switching channel.

The 40-619 module has the same functionality as a conventional single-pole multiplexer (2A, 60W), but uses auxiliary relays to determine the status of the multiplexer channel. Each of these channels is provided with an additional monitoring switch that allows the user, via an external measurement device, to verify that the multiplexer channels are “open” before applying test signals. This feature prevents incorrect or unintentional application of signals from damaging the device under test.

“The 40-619 module provides an integrated monitoring solution without the need for complicated wiring arrangements and additional lines of code in the test program. This would be necessary if a similar topology had to be implemented separately. The module is designed for signal routing in automatic test and data acquisition systems. It targets applications where confirmation of channel status is required prior to the application of the test signal,” explains Steve Edwards, switching product manager at Pickering Interfaces.

This multiplex channel monitoring concept is offered with Pickering’s existing 40-619 PXI modules. These modules are available in nine switching configurations (from 16 to 1 to 128 to 1). They incorporate electromechanical relays (EMRs) suitable for switching loads up to 2A at 250VAC/DC. They occupy only one slot in the PXI chassis. This allows the monitoring application to be implemented in a compact system.

The 40-619 series monitored multiplexer modules, which support Pickering’s eBIRST diagnostic tool, come with a three-year warranty. They are supplied with spare relays so that users can replace them themselves if necessary.
