- Viavi Solutions completes its Nitro Mobile offer with GEOperformance 5G and Coverage Assurance 5G solutions.
- Both solutions provide mobile operators with a view of their 5G communications network coverage and subscriber experience.
GEOperformance 5G delivers a view of 5G NR (New Radio) measurements, as well as 2G, 3G and 4G measurements, enabling mobile operators to plan, insure and optimize multi-technology networks as they deploy their 5G networks. The user interface provides a visualization of tables and maps highlighting key radio frequency performance indicators, such as signal strength and interference, based on real geolocalized measurements.
These maps and tables can be analyzed and filtered to identify problem areas such as those with high outbound call rates. An automatic problem detection feature also directs engineers to areas of the network that do not meet predefined key performance indicator thresholds.
Coverage Assurance 5G provides a subscriber-centric 3D view of the 5G quality of experience. The solution also details how services and applications are operated on the 5G network to improve performance. Both solutions are powered by data from the Nitro Network Integrated Test, Real-time analytics and Optimization (NITO) platform.
“A 2D view alone will not be enough to keep the 5G network running,” said Steve Urvik, vice president and general manager of the Visibility, Intelligence and Analytics Division at Viavi. “In urban areas, which are the first places to benefit from 5G, a 2D representation of 5G coverage in a multi-story office building will make virtually no sense. Operators would not be able to intelligently optimize the subscriber experience on this basis and it would certainly not be granular enough for them to exploit the new business opportunities of 5G and IoT”.
